Jacob Clemente is the newest triple threat to join the line-up of title stars in hit musical Billy Elliot. Clemente, whose first performance date will be announced shortly, previously appeared in the company as Tall Boy. He is the ninth actor to take on the demanding starring role.
At age 12, Clemente is the youngest Billy so far to take the Broadway stage. He has also appeared on Broadway in Gypsy. Numerous dance titles include 2007 Junior Mr. Starquest and 2008 National NYCDA Mini Outstanding Dancer.
Clemente joins current stars Michael Dameski, Alex Ko, Liam Redhead and Dayton Tavares as Billy, Kate Hennig as Mrs. Wilkinson, Philip Whitchurch as Dad, Carole Shelley as Grandma, Will Chase as Tony and Trevor Braun and Jake Evan Schwencke as Michael.
Set in a small British mining town, Billy Elliot follows Billy as he stumbles out of the boxing ring and into a ballet class, discovering a passion that takes him by surprise and takes his whole family on an incredible adventure. Featuring music by Elton John, book and lyrics by Lee Hall, choreography by Peter Darling and direction by Stephen Daldry, the show opened at Broadway’s Imperial Theatre on November 13, 2008, and was the winner of 10 2009 Tony Awards, including Best Musical.
